Is CBT For Me?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapeutic treatment that helps individuals understand the thoughts and feelings that influence their behaviors. Using a combination of mental and behavioral therapeutic approaches, CBT is grounded in the belief that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. Consequently, individuals can positively influence their emotions and actions by identifying and addressing negative or distorted thought patterns.

CBT is commonly used to treat various disorders, including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias. It's also practical for stress, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and various other conditions. Individuals learn to recognize and challenge their unhelpful thinking patterns and beliefs through the process. They are then guided to replace these with more realistic, constructive thoughts, promoting healthier behaviors and emotional states.

Therapy sessions are typically structured, goal-oriented, and focused on the present. This approach is educative and problem-solving, teaching clients skills to apply to various life challenges.
