How To Talk To Your Kids

Many kids today want to talk to their parents. But they want them to listen. No advice, no feedback, no telling them what to do. As long as the talk falls in line with subjects that are not harmful or illegal I would let the kid talk to you.

Maybe they just need a sounding board. Maybe no one else will listen to them. A parent should at least listen. If parental authority comes into play then there is time for that.

What they want to tell you about could vary from bullying to trouble with peers. There are so many I subjects it might serve you well to listen so you might get an idea of where your kid is coming from and and what they may be dealing with. Sometimes just listening is enough. It could reveal many things you might need to know about.

Decision making? We all from time to time have to make decisions. Sometimes the decision is clear. Sometimes not. When the decision isn’t just an obvious clear choice then we have to use our reasoning.

You may ask yourself have I made this choice before? And when I made this choice before what was the result? Did the choice or decision turn out well? If not then you have to use your mental reasoning to try and make a better decision this time around.

Life will present you with many decisions over the course of your life. Sometimes you will decide wisely. Sometimes not.The real question is did you learn from a past poor decision. Choices also can vary in the outcome.

You will need to access what parts of your choices turned out well and what parts of it did not. What should I do? Use your best judgment and if it isn’t the best choice learn from it.

I’m Not Having Fun

Finding time in our busy lives for fun has become increasingly difficult. Having fun or an enjoyable activity is sometimes hard to find a place for.

Say you like a little leisure time bowling or taking your wife or significant other out to eat at your favorite dining place. This won’t happen unless you prioritize or schedule it into your life.

Sometimes we are the barrier to having fun. Due to kids, work and other commitments we just haven’t scheduled to made time for any fun or leisure.

If you have lost the fun in your life and just can’t seem to find a place for it then maybe a chat with a counselor could help give you some ideas about getting some fun in your life.
