Moms and dads are doing they’re best when trying to raise their children but they may have extended themselves a bit further than they expected. Kids have what seems to be never ending energy and when you have several the challenge is multiplied.

If you can occasionally call in reinforcements like grandparents, siblings, friends you can get the time to renew yourself with rest, leisure and whatever allows you to recharge you battery. This is important for your sanity.

Boundaries with your kids and others can be beneficial for handling your kids. Kids need to learn to allow other people including their parents some space. Otherwise you will be just too stressed to continue long term.

TikTok And Mental Health

In this video counselors Dr Kevon Owen and Shawn Maguire are discussing”TikTok And Mental Health”.

TikTok and other social media properties can quickly become toxic for children, teenagers and even adults. These are places people go to seeking approval and recognition. These aren’t the places to find those things.

Objectionable short videos containing subjects and images that most of us shouldn’t be seeing. Young women displaying close to nude videos and suggesting adult themed content should not be viewed by teenagers and children. Parents are you screening what your children and teenagers are watching?

If you aren’t take a look at your kids and teenagers phones and you might be shocked at what is just put there for them in the open to view with no restrictions. TikTok and most social media do have parental controls and you should be having your own account and control your kids and teenagers accounts.

Many hashtags have hidden meanings. #KMS or “Kill My Self” is just one alarming thing to look for. There are many more. Since smart phones and social media have come into the mainstream suicides and much more have escalated. And if you decide to take away your kids cell phones due to finding that they have been viewing and interacting with objectionable material, talking to strangers, and maybe more then be prepared for a period of withdrawal.

Caring For Your Aging Parents

Life is a journey. Along that journey we grow up, move out of our parents home and start life. Could be attending college, working, military service and many other things. We may have children and that changes everything. Your life will never be the same.

On another note you also age. So have your parents. They may or may not need your help in advance stages of aging. If they do are you prepared to help them? Do you still have your own children at home? Do you still have a career? Are you married? All of these questions play a part in helping when your parents need help at their advance age.

Do you move them in? Will your wife support you in doing this? Is their health and mental wellness doing well enough for you to handle having then in your home? Or do they need care you cannot give them at home?

These are all important questions to consider. If it seems just a little too much to handle but you are faced with this anyway a discussion with a counselor might be in order to look for ways for you to cope with this or ideas for care for you parents outside of your home.
