Relationships Changing People

Any relationship, especially a young teenage to young adult relationship or any others be mindful of who you are having a relationship with or even if they are a possible candidate for a spouse. Value yourself first and be the person the other wants to pursue in a romantic relationship.If you don’t value yourself first how do you expect them to value yourself.

Be conscience of who pick to have a relationship with. Do their values line up with yours? Are their habits acceptable and consider that this might be your life partner and don’t assume that they will change or that you can change them. You might want to ask yourself is the problem you are perceiving yourself to have with family, friends or everyone you come into contact with? Isolating this down to your immediate family or friends is part of the process. If it is with just family and friends do you have one trusted friend you can discuss this with openly and honestly? This might be a good start.

Threat Of Impending Conflict

Contained in this weeks video are counselors Jack Smith and Destini Ramsey and the are talking about “Threat Of Impending Conflict”. We have all been in the position of having to face a situation or event that in our mind and lives that could be viewed as threatening or ominous.

For example your supervisor or someone in authority over you employment or method of making a living calls you in for a discussion. Your mind starts going all over the place with anxiety with what do they want to talk to you about. Is it a promotion? Or are you going to be terminated? If you let your mind go too far you can get yourself into a place of fear that may be totally unwarranted. Much better to expect the best but prepare for the worst.

Intrusive Thoughts

In this video counselors Dr Kevon Owen and Jack Smith are discussing “Intrusive Thoughts”. As human beings we have thoughts. Sometimes our thoughts are very bad and should not be acted upon. We can also replace those thought with positive affirming thoughts. Some of us can’t control our thoughts and entertain acting on things we should never consider.

Can you control your thoughts? Or do they control you? Do they make you act upon things that you shouldn’t or even could be lawless or criminal? Or can you put these thoughts away and think and do what you know you should? This is a difficult question for some people. If you have trouble having questionable or deeply bad thoughts and not being able to at least put them away or replacing them with something positive then you might want to consider speaking with a counselor.
