Each year, around 16 million adults in the United States are diagnosed with major
depressive disorder, and an astounding 40 million U.S. adults experience some type of anxiety disorder, according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA). Furthermore, a 2014 study by the American Psychological Association found that 48 percent of surveyed Americans report having high stress levels that negatively impact their personal and professional lives.
