How Not To Use The Bible As A Parent

As a parent your children hopefully see you as a loving and nurturing parent that wants the best for them. And hopefully you do expose your children to the bible through teaching at home and maybe bible study and teaching at church.

People in churches and some parents can but not always give the impression to their children that it is the law and if you break that law, God will punish you and in some extreme cases they are taught that he will kill you.

Using the Bible scriptures as a hammer or punishment is an almost guaranteed way to drive your kids from following God and learning his will for their lives.

This is a balancing act for you as parents. Your children should desire to learn about the Bible and what is contained in it. But if they are taught that any diversion away from the Bible teachings will result in something catastrophic it could just drive them away from it.
